uaap 2014: ateneo vs up

the battle of katipunan was won by the better team. ravena, obviously, was still not a 100% percent but he's getting into the groove slowly.

2 - 4. let's end the first one with another win against the tigers this wed.

caffeine fix

some suggestions where to find ur caffeine fix that's not starbucks, cbtl, ucc, or figaro.

1) bo's coffee, glorietta
g/f alfresco area glorietta 5, makati city

- a success story on how a local coffee brand can survive despite the invasion of global heavyweights starbucks and cbtl.

2) blenz, megamall
2/F sm megamall atrium

- overrated but still good. one of the better coffee places in megamall.

3) the room upstairs
2/F lri business plaza, 210 n. garcia st., bel air, makati city

- if you want some peace and quiet, this is where i'd go.

3) commune
liberty plaza, 102 hv dela costa st., salcedo village, makati

- i love the artsy-fartsy vibe. they also serve alcohol which is a definite plus.

4) kuppa
commercenter, 4th ave., cor 31st st., bgc

- excellent coffee and the homey feel makes this place a winner. the pizza is pretty good too.

5) epic cafe
102 east capitol drive, kapitolyo, pasig

- visited this place last weekend. i enjoyed the coffee and most specially the ambiance. will definitely come back. the cakes were pretty good too.

6) caffe bene
eastwood city walk2

- i'm fond of this cafe becoz of the ski-lodge vibe. it is also usually not crowded since there's a starbucks infront and it's beside cbtl.

7) black canyon
tuscany estates, mckinley parkway

- it's good to know that i have other options in mck when i need to stay awake.

8) highlands
g/f pioneer center, pioneer st. corner united st., pasig

- vietnamese coffee is one of the best in the world! i like tru nguyen better highlands though. i wonder if they will open a franchise sometime in the near future.

9) m cafe
1/f greenbelt 4

- sunday brunch is the best time to go here. love spending sunday morning's here.

10) enderun cafe
1100 campus place, mck hill taguig city

- the closest coffee place from where i work now. i also get a decent cafe americano for only 60 bucks! the place can get noisy/crowded though specially during the afternoon.

san antonio village food trip part 2

http://laterplease.blogspot.com/2010/11/san-antonio-village-food-trip.html

this post is related to the link above. additional suggestions when you're in the area

1) sophie's mom
santol st., cor. aranga st., makati
the cupcakes are delicious and always a hit with my officemates

2) dek a
5955 fermina st., cor enriquez st., poblacion, makati
this resto serves authentic thai dishes at reasonable prices!

3) hong kong roast food express
7467-c bagtikan st., san antonio village
i'd say it is one of makati's best kept secret. almost everything in the menu is worth a try. they opened another branch along jupiter sometime last year but i think it has already closed down.

we've moved out of the area sept last year. the food is what i miss most. someone told me there's a good tonkatsu place at palm tower. i should visit soon.

pre-cinemalaya 2013 viewings

since cinemalaya is just two weeks away, i did my share of catching up with some past cinemalaya entries. despite my toxic sched, i managed to watch three - mayohan, pisay, and paano ko sasabihin. all were quite good. i recommend them in the order i have listed down.

also i finally got the chance to catch up on brillante mendoza's latest two films - the captive and thy womb. i consider thy womb as one of his best, while the captive, in my opinion, could be his worst. i was also able to squeeze in masahista, one of his earlier films, which i think is just mediocre. but i know that it won awards and was very much acclaimed internationally.

i almost forgot that i did get to watch two "maindie" films - rigodon and menor de edad. rigodon is a must-watch in my books, while menor de edad is a somewhat a waste of time. good thing meg imperial is quite a hottie. hehe.

hope to see ou guys this august at ccp! support local films!

uaap 2014: ateneo vs adamson

first game this season where we finally won the 3rd quarter!

tiongson, buenafe, and erram came out big to give us our first win. good job guys!

i'm thinking that it will take 2 to 3 more games for kiefer to get into the groove. so we need the veterans to really step up.

let's take things a game at a time.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

my fb status update this afternoon.

"are the eagles suffering from lack of six drive? hehe. maybe kiefer is the cure. we'll find out later at 4pm. one big fight!"

uaap 2014: eagles vs archers

it was my first time at the moa arena. i was actually impressed. finally, we have a world class stadium.

anyway, i know that we are down 0-3. but i don't think we should panic yet. we could have won the last two games.... we just ran out of energy.

looking forward to the adamson game next sunday... with one week rest, maybe kiefer will get to play. with tiongson, kiefer, newsome on the floor and buenafe providing firepower from the bench, getting into the final four is do-able.

kief the faith guys!
