where to watch the world cup?

some of the places we have already check out and our recommendation.

1) skinny mikes (fort)
- this place is usually packed. so be early! service can be a bit slow though. best time to watch is every tuesday. 10 peso chicken wings!

2) handle bar (makati)
- parking can be challeging. but this is a place where true football fans usually hang out.

3) tune hotel (makati)
- this is our secret place. h&j, howzat, & handle bar are usually busy. and tune hotel is just a few steps away. friendly staff and consistent service can be expected.

4) solaire (pasay)
- the official world cup 2014 hotel. 500 peso drink all you can at strip steakhouse for all local beers. not bad huh? for the semis and finals, it will be at eclipse entertainment lounge. awesome big ass screen!

5) uncle ronie's pub (banawe, qc)
- our homecourt for this world cup. 3500 vip room is worth it! cheap beer and good food. i can't complain.

6) sofitel (pasay)
- best place to watch the finals for me. comfy seats, attentive servers, & atmostsphere

see you around guys! zombie mode this july.

world cup 2014: belgium vs russia 1 - 0

there's only three things that i want to say based on watching the last 20 mins.

1) hazzard could be the next messi. watch out for this guy.
2) belgium is this wc's dark horse. this team is the germany of 2010.
3) they have a great coach. imagine all of the goals so far were scored by substitutes.

time to sleep. need to wake up for the portugal vs usa game.

world cup 2014: germany vs ghana 1 - 1

damn. ghana deserved to win. anyway, im glad that i stayed up for this. one of the best so far. outstanding game.

klose has now cemented his legacy as the best poacher ever. 15 goals in 4 wcs. wow.

world cup 2014: argentina vs iran 1 - 0

since two of my teams are already out, argentina is my only hope. many say that this is messi's world cup. looking at argentina's first two games, maybe this is his world cup indeed. let's cross our fingers.

--------------------------------------
thanks to the awesome staff of uncle roni's pub! we'll be back!!!!

world cup 2014: france vs switzerland 5 - 2

goalfest. france is actually a very dangerous team. benzema is playing really well, and they have been playing solid football even without star player ribery. i won't be surprised if france will make it into the finals. this is a very different team from the last two wcs.

------------------------------------------

enjoyed watching the match at tune's hotel bar. not too crowded and the men's restroom has lcd tv. haha. we will be back!

world cup 2014: uruguay vs england 2 - 1

what can i say. suarez can now be compared to messi and ronaldo. he is defitely at their level.

i feel bad for england. they've prepared well but they're just not good enough. time to plan for euro 2016. the future is sterling, sturridge, and barkley.

world cup 2014: brazil vs mexico 0 - 0

this matched featured ochoa's talent. he should be playing in the big leagues. the man of the match clearly frustrated brazil's attacking prowess.

-------------------------------------------

only managed to watch the last 20 minutes of the match... too tired for an all-nighter. i'm glad though that i woke up just in time to see ochoa give out his best performance ever. well-deserved draw for mexico. a fair outcome.

world cup 2014: belgium vs algeria 2 - 1

belgium is this tournament's dark horse. they are pretty much the germany of 2010. they have a loaded line-up and the right coach. the only thing that's missing is experience. but expect to see great things from them this world cup... and in 2018, they will rule moscow.

-----------------------------------------------------

decided to just watch the game at home. dozed off in the second half. haha.

world cup 2014: germany vs portugal 4 - 0

looks like germany turned out to be one heck of a well-oiled football machine - an upgrade from the 2010 team. their tsunami-like offense is fun to watch. the performance that they've put up last night makes them serious title contenders.
---------------------------------

i was actually rooting for portugal since everyone loves germany. just wanted to go against the grain. i was even hearing a ronaldo shirt. haha. and everyone knows i hate ronnie. lol. anyway, i still believe that portugal will make it pass group stage. remember that they are currently ranked no. 4 in the world.

skinny mikes was a full-house. good thing i got there 1030pm. 10 peso wings!!!

world cup 2014: ivory coast vs japan 2 - 1

another awesome game.... japan was looking good in the first half. however, drogba's inclusion in the second half changed the pace of the game for ivory coast resulting into two goals.

still crossing my fingers, i still believe japan has what it takes to move pass the group stage.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i wasn't able to finish the game. dozed off at the 80th minute. i'm getting old. i can't resist sleep. hehe.

world cup 2014: ita vs eng 2 -1

glad that i woke up considering i got home at 5am. all of the goals were of superb quality. italy was just a bit better this time. pirlo, at 35 , has shown that he is still one of the best midfielders in the wc.

i'm rooting for england but im not that optimistic that they will get pass the group stage. i still think that italy and uruguay will progress.

world cup 2014: neds vs spain 5 - 1

looks like football is suddenly popular in this country... we went to skinny mikes for the 3am neds vs spain game and the place was packed! we decided to move to h&j and same thing. good thing we were able to get the last available table at handlebar just a minute before the kick-off.

the 5-1 thrashing of spain was painful to watch. i think it's time to make same changes in the next game. maybe iker should not start since he didn't really play that much last la liga season. also maybe mata should start.

people say that tika tika has been decoded. aggressive attacking offense and a crowded midfield is its weakness. brazil exposed spain's weakness in the confeds finals with a convinving 3-0 win.

indie day @ ew

watch rico blanco and the itchyworms tonight at eastwood for the 89.9 indie day celebration.

sud, hulyo, and autotelic will also be playing.

opm is alive!

see you at 9pm!

world cup 2014: brazil vs crotia 3 - 1

woke up at 445am just in time for the second-half and was surprised to see the score at 1 all. crotia was playing well against the home team who can't seem to get their offensive rhythm going. unfortunately for crotia, the heavily favored brazil received a lot of help from this japanese referee and ended up trailing 3 - 1. spotty officiating!

the game should have ended 1 - 1. i feel bad for crotia. definitely not the start fifa wanted to this world cup.

rooting for the following teams in order

1) spain

i remember rooting for spain, england, and germany last 2010. replaced germany this year with argentina since i like messi to have a memorable world cup. it is his time to do a diego maradona.

world cup 2014: netherlands vs australia 3 - 2

i was only able to watch he first half. i needed to rest before the spain chile match. honestly, netherlands played badly. im not sure why.... maybe they took austalia too lightly. guys, always remember that the ball is round. in football, a 100th ranked team can always upset the no.1.
