century superbods 2010 review

i finished the race at 52:55 with 7.55 km logged in my nikeplus. my guess was that that i might have taken a wrong turn somewhere. and true enough, i was correct. there are a lot of complaints in running forums that in the 6K mark, marshals were asking the 10K runners to turn left, back to the BHS area, instead of heading straight towards MC Home Depot and St. Lukes. unfortunately, i was one of those runners. bummer. that explains my unrealistic 52:50 net time !!!

o well. if i didn’t take that left turn, i could have finished the race in approximately 70 minutes (I was running at 7 km per minute pace). and that would have been a feat for me since my target was a sub-75 minute 10K run. frustrating.

note: my official result in the runrio site is 1:16:30. (bib 8522) - both gun-start and net-time. weird right? considering i started 15 minutes late (together with the 5K runners)...

i'm still waiting for the race analysis to be posted in the century tuna superbods site.

TOGA rebuttal

as promised....

----------------------------------------------------------------
TOGA
By: Ariel

The concept of "The One Who Got Away" is all fine and dandy when you see the story unfolding on the big screen. A bucket of popcorn sprinkled with white cheese and your 5th can of diet soda for the day in hand, you watch--- wide-eyed, lost in a haze of what seems similar to pot-induced reverie--- as the plot unveils the hero or heroine, “The One Who Got Away”, the principal character the story revolves around, the one person the film director was hoping would bring out the hopeless romantic in you. Enraptured, you smile, you twiddle your fingers, you heave a sigh of melancholy...then you burp. Reality smacks you like a Pacquiao left straight and wipes that silly, saliva dripping grin off your face. The truth of the matter is, “The One Who Got Away” is a figment of your winged imagination whom you romanticize and create because you can't stand the fact that either you're not happy with the person you're with, or you failed in your previous relationships. Simply put, someone fucked up big time, and it pains you to admit it may have been you.

You say “The One Who Got Away” is this person who was great and seemed perfect, whose only flaw was his/her less than impeccable sense of timing. This has got to be the stinkiest piece of cow dung I’ve ever heard in my life. I mean, seriously, are you describing a lover, or Jesus Christ? Circumstances beyond your control, you say, prevented what might have been an eternal commitment to come to fruition. Ah, the classic, default excuse of couples who thought they were happy but end up parting- that they were merely victims of circumstances. I guess it’s a painful, bitter pill to swallow, to admit that what really happened was you or your partner, or you both, were afraid to take your relationship to the next level, to clear a couple more hurdles to get to your coveted finish line. You were the poker player who had two high pairs after the turn card and had a chance for a full house on the river, but instead of taking chances, you copped out and folded when the stakes were raised. Was it a case of immaturity? Maybe. Was it a case of bad timing? Perhaps. But what cannot be denied is you guys chickened out. Cowardice knows no age, no rhyme, no reason, no season.

“The One Who Got Away” seems near perfect only because you choose to look at him/her that way now. I bet you didn’t look at him/her that way when you were together. It’s almost like how things are when someone dies and people start singing hosannas to extol the goodness and virtues of that person. Makes you wonder why you didn’t hear these praises before. Well, I guess it’s because the person wasn’t dead before. It’s rather convenient to gloss over a person’s faults and misgivings if you’ve had the luxury of months or years to get over the person and move on with your life. Time and distance have a way of altering how you look at someone from the past. It makes it easier to fabricate a revisionist history and make believe you had it all good with this person. Never mind the lies, the spats, the annoying quirks. These all seem minor, almost inconsequential and negligible now. But when you were together, these things actually conjured in you visions of voodoo you wanted to inflict on your partner.

Obsessing over “The One Who Got Away” is asymptomatic of a life that’s sad, lonely, and discontent even if on the surface, things seem generally calm and happy. Why else would you be thinking of someone else if all is well on the home front? What you refuse to admit is that the truth isn’t what you want it to be, that your picture of a perfect relationship is but a snapshot of your innermost desire, of a deep yearning for an ideal that apparently is absent in your life. We all have “what if” questions in our lives. We all have moments of youthful wonderings. Every so often, you should give yourself the liberty to ask these questions. The experiences and people from yesterday form part of who you have become. But you cannot, you should not, linger on these thoughts and allow them to consume and secretly possess you. You reminisce, you allow yourself a bit of this indulgence, then you move on and let go. Letting go need not mean relegating the past to irrelevance. You acknowledge its significance in your life, then you pour all your thoughts on the present, on who you’re with, because he/she is the only person who should matter. Unless, of course, you believe the one you’re with now is not good enough for you. This tells you that you once again, you fucked up and made a bad choice of partner, hence, this longing for “The One Who Got Away”.

“The One Who Got Away” got away not because of uncontrollable circumstances, not because he/she should have been “the one”, not because you still might have a 2nd crack at love someday. He/she got away because he/she does not exist. He/she never did. People choose to believe “The One Who Got Away” does exist. But the truth is, “The One Who Got Away” is but an escape and diversion from what is unpleasant and ugly in the present. “The One Who Got Away” is the opium for lonely hearts which lack some romantic highs in their lives. “The One Who Got Away” is the perfect formula for a feel-good romantic film. However, as is often the case, life rarely imitates art.

the one that got away

here's an old article about TOGA.

watch out for my friend's rubuttal in this blog. it's about time.

--------------------------------------------------------------
The One That Got Away

In your life, you'll make note of a lot of people. Ones with whom you shared something special, ones who will always mean something. There's the one you first kissed, the one you first loved, the one you lost your virginity to, the one you put on a pedestal, the one you're with...and the one that got away.

Who is the one that got away? I guess it's that person with who everything was great, everything was perfect, but the timing was just wrong. There was no fault in the person, there was no flaw in the chemistry, but the cards just didn't fall the right way, I suppose.

I believe in the fact that ending up with someone, finding a longtime partner that is, does not lie merely in the other person. I can actually argue that an equal part, or maybe even the greater part, has to do with the matter of timing. It has to do with you being ready to settle down and commit to someone in a way that goes beyond the little niceties of giddy romance.

How often have you gone through it without even realizing it? When you're not ready to commit in that mature manner, it doesn't matter who you're with, it just doesn't work. Small problems become big; inconsequentials become dealbreakers simply because you're not ready and it shows. It's not that you and the person you're with are no good; it's just that it's not yet right, and little things become the flashpoint of that fact.

Then one day you're ready. You really are. And when this happens you'll be ready to settle down with someone. He or she may not be the most perfect, they might not be the brightest star of romance to ever have burned in your life, but it'll work because you're ready. It'll work because it's the right time and you'll make it work. And it'll make sense, it really will.

So that day comes when you're finally making sense of things, and you find yourself to be a different person. Things are different, your approach is different, you finally understand who you are and what you want, and you've become ready because the time has truly arrived. And mind you, there's no telling when this day will come. Hopefully you're single but you could be in a long-term relationship, you could be married with three kids, it doesn't matter. All you know is that you've changed, and for some reason, the one that got away, is the first person you think about.

You'll think about them because you'll wonder, "What if they were here today?" You'll wonder, "What if we were together now, with me as I am and not as I was?" That's what the one that got away is. The biggest "What if?" you'll have in your life.

If you're married, you'll just have to accept the fact that the one that got away, got away. Believe me, no matter how fairy tale you think your marriage is, this can happen to the best of us. But hopefully you're mature enough to realize that you're already with the one you're with and this is just another test of your commitment, one which will just strengthen your marriage when you get past it. Sure, you'll think about him/her every so often, but it's alright. It's never nice to live with a "might have been," but it happens.

Maybe the one that got away is the one who's already married. In which case it's the same thing. You just have to accept and know that your memories of that person will probably bring a nice little smile to your lips in the future when you're old and gray and reminiscing.

But if neither of that is the case, then it's different. What do you do if it's not yet too late? Simple...find him, find her. Because the very existence of a "one that got away" means that you'll always wonder,
what if you got that one?

Ask him out to coffee, ask her out to a movie, it doesn't matter if you've dropped in from out of nowhere. You'd be surprised, you just might be "the one that got away" as well for the person who is your "the one that got away."

You might drop in from out of nowhere and it won't make a difference. If the timing is finally right, it'll all just fall into place somehow and you know, I'm thinking, it would be a great feeling, in the end, to be able to say to someone, "Hey you, you're the one that almost got away."

poker woes

i'm in a three month poker losing streak !!! something changed my game drastically... and i'm guessing it's the texas hold'em freeware i downloaded from gameloft. it's soooooooooooo f'ckn addicting !!! i better delete it from my phone and better start playing against real people more often.

*** losing streak is getting busted in just two hands for three consecutive games and being kicked out of the metroclub 500 tournament in less than an hour.

p.i. jazzfest 2010

i was on my way back to gbelt 5 parking area around 930pm the other night when I chance upon the roberto aymes trio playing at the park. the most logical thing to do was to grab a seat and enjoy jazz music at its finest.

i consider jazz musicians as the most talented. jazz doesn’t only require skill but also a lot of heart.

hurt

I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything
what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
upon my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
beneath the stains of time
the feelings disappear
you are someone else
I am still right here

what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
and you could have it all
my empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

what happened in my birth year?

courtesy of http://whathappenedinmybirthyear.com/

------------------------------------------------------------------------
In 1979, the world was a different place.

There was no Google yet. Or Yahoo.

In 1979, the year of your birth, the top selling movie was Kramer vs Kramer. People buying the popcorn in the cinema lobby had glazing eyes when looking at the poster.

Remember, that was before there were DVDs. People were indeed watching movies in the cinema, and not downloading them online. Imagine the packed seats, the laughter, the excitement, the novelty. And mostly all of that without 3D computer effects.

Do you know who won the Oscars that year? The academy award for the best movie went to Kramer vs. Kramer. The Oscar for best foreign movie that year went to The Tin Drum. The top actor was Dustin Hoffman for his role as Ted Kramer in Kramer vs. Kramer. The top actress was Sally Field for her role as Norma Rae Webster in Norma Rae. The best director? Robert Benton for Kramer vs. Kramer.

In the year 1979, the time when you arrived on this planet, books were still popularly read on paper, not on digital devices. Trees were felled to get the word out. The number one US bestseller of the time was The Matarese Circle by Robert Ludlum. Oh, that's many years ago. Have you read that book? Have you heard of it? Look at the cover!

In 1979... The State of Ohio agrees to pay $675,000 to families of the dead and injured in the Kent State shootings. Vietnam and Vietnam-backed Cambodian insurgents announce the fall of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and the collapse of the Pol Pot regime. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge retreat west to an area along the Thai border. The United States and the People's Republic of China establish full diplomatic relations. Pluto moves inside Neptune's orbit for the first time since either was known to science. Khomeini creates the Council of the Islamic Revolution. The first British nudist beach is established in Brighton. Voyager I makes its closest approach to Jupiter at 172,000 miles. America's most serious nuclear power plant accident, at Three Mile Island, Pennsylvania. A Unabomber bomb injures Northwestern University graduate student John Harris. The Nickelodeon Television Channel, a children's cartoon channel, launches as The Pinwheel Network. The Albert Einstein Memorial is unveiled at The National Academy of Sciences in Washington, DC. Joe Clark becomes Canada's 16th and youngest Prime Minister. Jimmy Carter and Leonid Brezhnev sign the SALT II agreement in Vienna. The Entertainment Sports Programming Network, known as ESPN, debuts. Black Monday events, in which members of a political group sack a newspaper office, unfold in Malta. The first European Ariane rocket is launched. The Soviet Union invades Afghanistan. The One Child Policy is implemented in China. The long-running comic strip For Better or For Worse begins its run. The video game of the day was Lunar Lander.

That was the world you were born into. Since then, you and others have changed it.

The Nobel prize for Literature that year went to Odysseas Elytis. The Nobel Peace prize went to Mother Teresa. The Nobel prize for physics went to Sheldon Lee Glashow, Steven Weinberg and Abdus Salam from the United States and Pakistan for their contributions to the theory of the unified weak and electromagnetic interaction between elementary particles, including, inter alia, the prediction of the weak neutral current. The sensation this created was big. But it didn't stop the planets from spinning, on and on, year by year. Years in which you would grow bigger, older, smarter, and, if you were lucky, sometimes wiser. Years in which you also lost some things. Possessions got misplaced. Memories faded. Friends parted ways. The best friends, you tried to hold on. This is what counts in life, isn't it?

The 1970s were indeed a special decade. Women's liberation continued. The hippie culture faded. There was an opposition to the Vietnam war, and nuclear weapons. The environmentalist movement began. Tom Wolfe coined the decade the "Me decade" due to a new self-awareness. Mao Zedong died and the market began to liberate in China. There was an oil crisis. After the first oil shock, gasoline was rationed in many countries. In Eastern Europe, Soviet-style command economies begin showing signs of stagnation. The Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, witness the kidnapping and murder of Israeli athletes by Palestinian Arab terrorists. The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. The Who, Pink Floyd, The Eagles, Bee Gees, Abba and others play their music. Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison all die at the age of 27. The space mission Apollo 13 nearly ends in disaster. Egypt signed the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty. There was a revolution in Iran. The world sees its first general microprocessor. The C programming language makes its debut. Consumer video games show up on the scene. Microwave ovens become commercially available. Margaret Thatcher was victorious in the UK elections.

Do you know what was on the cover of Life that year?

Do you remember the movie that was all the rage when you were 15? Pulp Fiction. Do you still remember the songs playing on the radio when you were 15? Maybe it was The Sign by Ace of Base. Were you in love? Who were you in love with, do you remember?

In 1979, 15 years earlier, a long time ago, the year when you were born, the song My Sharona by The Knack topped the US charts. Do you know the lyrics? Do you know the tune? Sing along.

Ooh my little pretty one, pretty one.
When you gonna give me some time, Sharona?
Ooh you make my motor run, my motor run.
Gun it comin' off the line Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up.
...

There's a kid outside, shouting, playing. It doesn't care about time. It doesn't know about time. It shouts and it plays and thinks time is forever. You were once that kid.

When you were 9, the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit was playing. When you were 8, there was Masters of the Universe. When you were 7, there was a Disney movie out called The Great Mouse Detective. Does this ring a bell?

6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... it's 1979. There's TV noise coming from the second floor. Someone turned up the volume way too high. The sun is burning from above. These were different times. The show playing on TV is Supertrain . The sun goes down. Someone switches channels. There's Buck Rogers in the 25th Century on now. That's the world you were born in.

Progress, year after year. Do you wonder where the world is heading towards? The technology available today would have blown your mind in 1979. Do you know what was invented in the year you were born? The Walkman. The Solid State Digital Audio Player.

1979 that's when my momma had me
2006, her oldest son is a daddy
Check it, I got two daughters of my own
They say I degrade women
But they degrade themself
...

That's from the song Family by Ying Yang Twins.

In 1979, a new character entered the world of comic books: Shaman. Bang! Boom! But that's just fiction, right? In the real world, in 1979, Mena Suvari was born. And Zhang Ziyi. Jennifer Love Hewitt, too. And you, of course. Everyone an individual. Everyone special. Everyone taking a different path through life.
It's 2010.

The world is a different place.

What path have you taken?

floyd gayweather

news flash from my friend.

andre berto backed out of his fight against shane mosley on jan 30. this is because of the haiti earthquake where berto’s family is from. berto says he just doesn’t have the focus to fight this soon. now mosley is scheduled to fight mayweather on may 1. this fight might even be bigger and better than pacquiao-clottey.

o well... there’s nothing we could do now... anyway, i do believe that the fight between pacquiao and mayweather will eventually happen. too much money is involved for it not to happen. they both have to win their next fights. then they’ll start to negotiate again for a fight before the year ends. hopefully, floyd gayweather will have the balls to face pacman.

what's today?

today is vday. since i need to prove that i’m not vday’s scrooge or grinch, i searched for pablo neruda stuff on the web and found two nice ones to share. i’m not really into poetry (i hardly read poems/sonnets). i consider myself more of a prose, fiction, essay kind of guy. but since today is vday, let me spread the love. boo !!! haha.

XVII

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

-------------------------------------------------------

LXVI

I do not love you - except because I love you;
I go from loving you to not loving you,
from waiting to not waiting for you
my heart moves from the cold into

the fire. I love you only because it's you
I love; I hate you no end, and hating you
bend to you, and the measure of my changing love for you
is that I do not see you but love you

blindly. Maybe the January light will consume
my heart with its cruel
ray, stealing my key to true

calm. In this part of the story I am the one who
dies, the only one, and I will die of love because I love you,
because I love you, Love, in fire and in blood

---------------------------------------------------

what do you think??? vday is pablo neruda time. he is the man of the moment. the chilean nobel prize winner was not only a diplomat and a world class poet, but also a lover of many women - he had three wives and many mistresses... whoah !!! poetry can do wonders...

have a nice day everyone!!! i'll be spending the afternoon at home doing a prisonbreak marathon. bummer.

happy vday !!!

i don't really believe in vday... but anyway, a friend of mine posted this in facebook. this is something to be shared... a sonnet by neil gaiman...

I don’t think that I’ve been in love as such,
Although I liked a few folk pretty well.
Love must be vaster than my smiles or touch,
For brave men died and empires rose and fell
For love: girls followed boys to foreign lands
And men have followed women into Hell.

In plays and poems someone understands
There’s something makes us more than blood and bone
And more than biological demands...
For me, love’s like the wind, unseen, unknown.
I see the trees are bending where it’s been,
I know that it leaves wreckage where it’s blown.
I really don’t know what ‘I love you’ means.
I think it means ‘Don’t leave me here alone."

condura run 2010 results

you can find the results of the condura run by going to this link.

http://condurarun.com/results2010.html

i clocked 77 minutes and 33 secs on my nike plus (net time) but my official gun-start time is 88 minutes and 31 secs. it's the long line at the finish line that screwed up the results i think. imagine we waited for 10 minutes. you can't blame the organizers though. managing 2104 runners is really tough.

10K Run Results
Bib No: 30224
Gun start time: 1:28:31
Pace: 8:52
Net time: 1:17:33
Rank (Overall)) 1538 out of 2104

i'm targetting 70 minutes for the century run. better start preparing :)

breast actresses

this post is triggered by mo's blog entry regarding anne hathaway. he considers her as one of hollywood's breast actresses. hmmm. i absolutely agree with him. try to get hold of the straight-to-dvd-movie havoc and you'll know why.

here's my top 5 hollywood breast actresses =)

1) scarlett johansson - her steamy threesome scene with penelope cruz and javier bardem in vicky cristina barcelona was forever etched in my mind. it is considered the sexiest cinematic threesome since denise richards, matt dillon and neve campbell got filmgoers excited in wild things.

2) anne hathaway - she reinvented herself as a serious actress when she starred in brokeback mountain. she also immortalized her twins in that movie

3) jessica simpson - daisy duke and her music videos are enough proof to put her in this list

4) lindsay lohan - she's a total mess right now but she's still hot.

5) katherine heigl - 100 girls, knocked up, 27 dresses, etc - sexy curves !!!

if i can squeeze in two more, it would be jennifer aniston and megan fox...

colts vs saints

can't wait for monday. it's colts vs saints - manning vs brees. if colts win (i'm pretty sure they will), i get free lunch from ryan !!!

it's been two years since i've watched superbowl live. see you at nsg !!!

cwc

to those who are interested to try wakeboarding at cwc, i highly recommend it. it's five times better than lago de oro. and contrary to what most people think, it's not that expensive.

my expense list:
- isarog lazyboy jr extreme roundtrip ticket - 1700 pesos
- two nights stay at villa del ray single container - 2400 pesos
- two halfday wakeboarding pass - 920 pesos
- 200 pesos per meal
- beer cost around 40 bucks i think

some tips:
- visit on a weekday if you can, less people means less embarrassment if you fall head first. hehe
- when travelling via bus, make sure to bring a jacket or a blanket or else you'll get frostbites, haha
- for beginners, try a few rounds of kneeboarding first
- early morning or late in the afternoon is the best time to wakeboard, shorter lines
- invest in gloves, your hands will hurt after a few rounds
- don't forget to bring alaxan fr. you will thank me for this
- try out biggs at sm naga. excellent cheap food. the baby back ribs and cajun chicken are good shit
- include in your itinerary a trip to donsol or caramoan. there are also a lot of other stuff to do in the area

butanding experience

i'm a diver for four years now, and i never thought that i won't need a tank, bcd, and regulator for me to experience my most unforgettable underwater encounter. all i needed was my fins and snorkeling gear.

2010 spring film festival notes

yesterday, i got to watch two of the four films being shown. some quick notes...

the world (by zhang ke jia)
- basically it's a compilation of stories of people in modern china with the two lovers namely tao and taisheng as focal point.
- this film will demand on the audience a little patience coz it's too long, very slow paced, and the camera is mostly still. but it's a rewarding experience in the end.
- great cast, the dialogue and interaction between the characters are very real
- tackles a lot of social issues especially on how globalization is affecting china
- presents to us in a subtle manner... the price we pay in our quest to better our lives
- memorable quote:
"taisheng: are we dead?
tao: no, we have only just begun."

in love we trust (by xiaoshuai wang)
- a different kind of love story
- brings the audience deep into a moral quagmire
- challenges the viewers to think
- great performance by the cast
- excellent screenplay
- favorite scene: the last scene where the troubled couple was having dinner... (it was sort of painful to watch but it was uplifting in an awkward way)

the festival will run until tuesday next week. you guys still have time. also make sure to visit the chinese painting exhibit at the shang level 2 lobby.

century superbods run 2010

TOP 10 REASONS TO JOIN
At Condura, we go the “extra mile” for you. Our runners. Our customers. You are number 1.

1. The 1st Condura Skyway Marathon

The Condura Run has gone further and further in the past 3 years from 10km, to 21km and now 42km! We are very proud and excited to launch our first full marathon. We definitely are committed to make the Condura Skyway Marathon the premier running event of the Philippines.

2. Run on the Skyway. New 3km and 5km route

Condura is the first and the only run that goes through the SKYWAY for the half and full marathon. No traffic, no pollution, excellent roads; truly a runners’ wish come true. We also created a signature Condura race route for the 3km with kids and families safety in mind. No running through any major thoroughfares. No crossing major intersections. It will be a runner and spectator friendly course. After all, a big part of what makes a run special is the route.

3. 1 start and 2 finish lines. Exclusive route for 3km/5km and 10km, 21km and 42km

Call us “OC” runners but we don’t like crowded check in areas, waiting for a long time for the race to start, dodging and overtaking slow runners/ walkers and not being able to dash to the finish line because it is full.

We solved this problem by dividing the race into 2 running zones where the 3km and 5km have their own exclusive running route and finish line. And the 10km, 21km and 42km also have their own exclusive running route and finish line. This concept took a lot of planning, is more complex to execute and will cost a lot more but anything for the convenience and safety of the runners is worth it.

4. Do it yourself (DIY) Race Bib

Your race kit comes with 2 race bibs. The first bib contains your race number and is needed for you to run and the second is a blank race bib with a cool Dolphin design. Write down your name on the bib so that spectators can shout out your name and cheer you on as you run. (Late registrants will NOT receive a DYI race bib)

5. Finishers Medal for all race categories

Condura was the first to award the finishers medal to half marathoners by hanging it around their neck. For 2010, Condura is further innovating by awarding finishers medal to all race categories. Yes its true. Not only will 42k, 21k finishers get medals, but also the 10k, 5k and 3k finishers too. We believe that every runner deserves a medal! Now you can start your collection of Condura medals that have a unique design every year. (Late registrants will NOT receive a medal)

6. Dolphin Souvenir Shirts.

All regular registrants will get a cool collectible Dolphin souvenir shirt. Condura shirts are meant to be used all year round and not just during the race. Join the Condura Run and start your t-shirt collection! (Late registrants will NOT receive a souvenir shirt)

7. Marching bands and Cheering Zones

Condura pioneered having marching bands and cheering zones on the race route. For 2010 we will have at least 5 bands along the race route and several cheering zones to give runners the adrenaline boost to achieve a personal best and the energy to sprint to the finish line.

8. Runners support

Condura is a run by runners for runners. In everything we do, we have the runners in mind. Below are some of the services we shall be offering.

• Elite check-in for fast runners.
• Pace runners for full marathon runners
• At least 15 Summit Mineral Water and 100 Plus hydration stations
• Inspirational signs, distance and directional signs from INSPIRE Inc.
• Ambulance from Lifeline Arrows.
• At least 30 Portalets along the course and race route
• 100 thousand pesos runners insurance coverage from Pioneer Insurance
• Over 500 volunteers supporting the runners.
• Runners photos and videos.
• Split timing for full marathon runners
• Free Selecta Ice Cream after the race to reward yourself.

9. Asics Expo at the Condura Village

We are proud to have Asics as one of the presenting sponsors for 2010. Come see their latest running shoes and sports apparel while enjoying special discounts only available to Condura runners.

10. Run for the Dolphins

Run not only for a healthier lifestyle in 2010 but also run to make a difference! P50 pesos from the race fee shall go to help save the Dolphins of Bohol.

i think they are still accepting late registrants. more details can be found at http://condurarun.com/

see you on feb 7 !!!

death by burger

i remember creating a list of best burgers in the metro last year. i guess it’s about time to add five more in the list.

1) Stacker (piazza, mckinley hill)
- check out their wide burger selection and crispy garlic fries. one of my fav burger joints lately since it's just a 3 minute walk from my office.

2) Johnny rockets (eastwood, libis)
- i love this place because of old jive music, juicy burgers, and really really really thick milkshakes. very pricey though.

3) Bite Club (katipunan)
- the burgerella is worth the long drive to katipunan

4) Wham (Shangrila mall and katipunan)
- tasty quality burgers, yum.

5) Crave Burger(katipunan)
- this new burger joint from iloilo will be a hit soon... i'm betting on it.

yet to try (i’ve heard they are really good)

- elberts (powerplant mall)
- filling station (makati red light district)
- myrons (gbelt 5)

we all have a little jughead in us. enjoy binging. just make sure to regularly check ur bp. haha.
