walkway 2013

if you’re just in town to spend the holy week, i suggest to try spending some quiet time doing the station of the cross at walkway bgc by church simplified.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
a few years back, maybe three or four years ago, the only places open at bgc during holy thursday and good friday were starbucks and texas roadhouse. it is frustrating to see that things are different now. all restos/cafes are freaking open now.i miss  the quiet time and solemnity.

6th bej ps3 fifa cup

after winning the 1st bej ps3 fifa cup, chelsea fc became dormant for the next three seasons and was only good enough as the second best last season (5th bej cup). at the start of the elimination round of the recent 6th bej cup, things looked really bad for chelsea. they almost got elimated and was actually lucky to end up 4th place with nail-biting wins against aston villa and man u. but in the semis, chelsea gained confidence by winning big with the 5 - 1 trashing of barcelona fc at the barnabou stadium, which earned them the finals berth. the drama didn't end there. in the finals against man u, the blues produced a last minute goal to tie the game 1 - 1 and sealed the deal with torres' perfect strike in extra time.

1st - chelsea fc
2nd - bayern fc
3rd - real madrid
4th - man city
5th - man city
6th - chelsea fc

this is chelsea's second championship finish and my third one (the other one was with bayern fc). i can say that this is the sweetest win ever.

torres... i wish you could play like ur video game counterpart in real life.

looking forward to the 3rd title soon!

mnl boutique hotel

if you're planning to spend the holy week in the city, why not try out "mnl boutique hotel". i chance upon this place when i attended some social media gathering.

http://www.mnlboutiquehostel.com/

accommodation starts at 500 a night. not bad huh? highly recommended for this week's staycation.

finally... i now have a hideout just in case i want to run away from someone. haha.

off to maldives

azkals 1 turkmenistan 0

i wanted to watch the game live at rms but my schedule was just crazy. work always get in the way of football. haha. anyway, watching it on tv at pinchos, a tiny bar near my office, was good enough.

hmmm. i don't really have much to say but the team is just getting better and better. with this win, the azkals has further validated that we are a developing football power in the region and the only place to go is up the fifa rankings! yeah!

good job guys. im tempted to fly to maldives next year.... will start checking out ticket prices.

azkals vs cambodia

we've assembled the best line-up ever when we played against cambodia. check out this first eleven.

muller
carli de mura
juani guirado
rob gier
dennis cagara
stephan shrock
mulders
jerry lucena
angel guirado
patino
phil younghusband

and in the bench, we have chieffy, james younghusband, oj porteria, patrick reichelt, among others.

so i was not really that surprised when we trashed cambodia 8 - 0 despite all the drama - power outage, the heavy downpour, etc.

with this historic win (last time we scored more than 7 goals was in 1917), i'm confident that we are heading to maldives. watch out turkmenistan! 3rd time is a charm.

visita iglesia 2013

my parents are in town for the holy week. they couldn't stand the power situation in mindanao. imagine 4 - 6 hours a day of black outs???!!! it's earth day everyday there... reminds me of the 90s.  dark times... literally.

anyway, it was my parent's first time to do visita iglesia here. they were actually surprised that the tradition is very much alive in the metro. we heard mass at gbelt chapel at 5pm before hitting road for my holy thursday habit.

1) greenbelt parish, greenbelt
2) st. andrews parish, bel air
3) national shrine of the sacred heart, kamagong
4) st. john bosco parish, arnaiz avenue
5) sanctuario de san antonio, forbes
6) blessed john paul II, eastwood
7) padre pio, c5

parking situation was pretty bad. i'm actually thinking of making it a good friday habit instead starting next year.

beer no more

i'm been trying to cut down on beer lately... my beer belly expansion is quite alarming. haha. the next best option is whiskey.

so far my favs for single malt are

glen elgin 12 yr old single malt scotch
suntori hibiki 12 yr old
glenfiddich 12 yr old

for blended, ive been a fan of double black and chivas ever since.

i will start a whiskey log to track all of the whisky i've tasted in this blog. maybe my beer belly will stop growing but my liver will start dying. lol.  cheers!

emperador stadium

i hate working at the mckinley area due to the parking situation. the only consolation is that emperador stadium is just two blocks away. im quite impressed with the field. looks like football is here to stay.

hmmm. the 7 - 2 trashing of airforce by the stallions was agonizing to watch. what happened to the previous champs? i guess the football landscape in the philippines has changed with the influx of quality players from all over the world. it's a challenge for the locals to keep up with them. but dont be wary...  i know we will... in due time. keep the faith guys!

volleyball is alive

i was only able to watch a couple of games this season on tv. one game in the second round, and the other was the game 1 finals against dlsu. ateneo almost had it... but i guess that the better and more experienced team handled the pressure better.

this year is a historic moment for uaap volleyball, and volleyball in general... imagine... 18-19K record crowd at MOA arena. who could have thought that these ladies could fill them. definitely looking forward to next year.

i wonder who will be the next gretchen ho. the chris tiu of volleyball. hehe.
