one big fight!

i will probably be there since i seriously need a drink and a dose of nostalgia to start the weekend.

http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/334814/lifestyle/peopleandevents/bloom-arts-festival-gears-up-for-its-second-year

i think the collective is too small of a venue for this. let's see.

halloween 2013

i guess this is the time of the year again. halloween is my favorite holiday next to xmas! presenting to you below my halloween horror binge for 2013 with lazy two sentence reviews. too tired to write something substantial. haha.

1) ginger snaps - glad that i discovered this underrated gem. one of the best werewolf movies out there.

2) grave encounters - fun horror movie. weak ending though.

3) blood: the last vampire - bad but entertaining still. a movie with a hot samurai yielding japanese girl in school uniform is always a winner.

4) kill list - nicely paced. disturbing ending that will leave you thinking.

5) pulse (kairo) - boring and overrated. skip this.

6) the bay - not bad. not good either.

7) halloween (1078)- overrated classic for me. i will try to watch the remake by rob zomabie.

8) world war z - really enjoyed this. i hope they go ahead with the sequal.

9) warm bodies - a unique/different take on the zombie genre. not as fun as zombieland though.

10) three extremes - artsy fartsy horror stuff. dumplings (the first of the three stories) is a must-see for asian horrror fans.

11) i saw the devil - one word. brutal.

12) paranormal activity 4 - i think the franchise should end here. still scary at times though.

13) the conjuring - scariest film of 2013. hands down.

14) ginger snaps 2 - not as good as part 1 but it's still worth seeing. they should really make more werewolf movies.

15) the possession - got to watch this again on tv. still scares me.

i usually start my yearly horror binge sometime early october. but this year, i started early, around mid-september i think. hence, 15 films!!!

until next year guys!

el classico 10-27

i've noticed three things. first, barca playing more "direct" football, taking more risks. second, neymar jr seems to fit perfectly, already "jelled" with the team. and lastly, the forwards, especially messi, is playing defense!

looks like barca is in a good position to win it again this year.

2-1.

cersa 13-14 fantasy bball

i wasn't able to attend the live draft coz i was in alabang. but i'm kinda happy with the auto-picks. tony parker, melo anthony, and kevin love will be leading my team this year. oh yeah!

tony parker
eric gordon
kyle lowry
carmelo anthony
kevin love
harrison barnes
brook lopez
tyson chandler
mario chalmers
jr smith
alex len
arron afflalo

with this line-up, i'm positive that i can finish this year #2 or #3. crossing my fingers.

basketbulan 2k14

my line-up for basketbulan 2k14 fantasy league. i'm sure that you noticed i have two injured superstars - rondo & westbrook. big risk i know. start slow... finish strong. hehe.

george hill
marcus thornton
j.r. smith
lebron james
larry sanders
paul millsap
enes kanter
danny granger
russel westbrook
rajon rondo
robin lopez

this is also my first time to join a live yahoo draft session. it was quick and efficient.

an unpredictable season awaits us all. game time!

tanduay rockfest 7

we were kind of late so we weren't able to catch UDD, kitchie nadal, and barbie. boooooo. friday traffic is really getting worse. i think we were still looking for parking when kitchie's set started. we only got to see sandwich, which im not a big fan of, a gloc 9 collab with kitchie, the dawn, sponge cola, ebe dancel, and wolfgang. wolfgang set though made the long drive to moa worth it. it's been awhile since i've been to this kind of gig. i remember going to san miguel oktoberfest gigs in the early 2000. good times!

thanks inah for the vip tickets!

esoteric

hmmm. esoteric i think could be urbandub's best album.

it seems that they have found their sound and they are sticking with it. but it doesn't mean that they stopped growing as musicians.

there's no doubt that the band has continued to evolve...

get ur copy now at astrovision.

long overdue

finally, the much awaited full-length album of kate torralba is out.

what can i say..... hmmm. i guess the title says it all. it's definitely worth the wait.

---------------------------------------------------- -------------------------

distributed by MCA Music Inc., the album is available on iTunes and SMART Music, as well as in select odyssey, astroplus, fully booked and other music stores in the Philippines.

last time i got to watch kate live was a few months ago at craft fort strip. to those who haven't been to any of her gigs, this album should convince you.

da vinci exhibit @ mind museum

da vinci exhibit is now open!

"For the first time in the Philippines is the most comprehensive exhibit on the life and works of Leonardo da Vinci. It will feature life-sized, interactive replications of his inventions: the bicycle, the glider, scuba-diving equipment, tank and more, faithfully crafted by Italian artisans. It will also showcase reproductions of his amazingly accurate & detailed anatomical drawings.

The Da Vinci -- The Genius exhibit in Manila will also include 3D features on his art works:
Vitruvian Man, Mona Lisa and the Last Supper."

200 bucks entrance was actually pretty reasonable. i suggest you watch the 50 minute documentary which plays 4x a day.

the end of a dynasty

i do feel bad that ateneo was ousted by ust. final four was so close. o well... i'm still proud of the team. the eagles fought until the last second - a true mark of a champion.

the drive for six ended today. it was quite a run. 14 semis appearance and a 5-peat. all good things must come to an end. that's reality.

to all bashers out there, i leave you with a quote from dr. house.

"arrogance has to be earned. tell me what you've done to earn yours."

one big fight! next year ulit.

singapore & kl - the second time around

i used to have this rule that it doesn't make sense to visit the same place twice... especially since there are 196 countries in the world. it just that there are many other interesting places left to be explored plus travelling doesn't come in cheap. however, i do think that there should be exceptions to this rule. we should not discriminate against a place purely for the fact that we've been there. honestly, spending two to three days in a city is not experiencing a country to any reasonable level.

i guess that's why i came back to singapore and kl after five years... to get to see what has changed, and a 33 year old set of eyes is different from a 28.

singapore... kl... glad to get to see you again.

the barca game was also a bonus!

zombies hate stuff

if you are a zombie fan, this is a must-have. now available at fully-booked. i need to check greg stone's other works now. the author has my curiosity :)

azkals vs indonesia: 0 - 2

indonesia is still our kryptonite. anyway, indonesia played well and made us look like a bunch of high school students against ufl all-stars. o well, i think coach weiss experimented too much. james younghusband playing right back and carli de murga as centerback!!! i'm glad though that mark hartman and jerry barbaso are on the team. well-deserved!

the team needs more tune-up games in preparation for the afc cup. i'm serious.

spain here we come

i was only able to watch the first three games of the elims. the first game (vs saudi arabia) at cable car cebu... the second (vs jordan) at joker's arm and the third (vs taiwan) at my college buddy's place. even with just 2 - 1 record in the first round of elims, my gut was telling me that we will make it to the finals. and damn i was right!

i followed the rest of the fiba tournament via twitter while i was in singapore and kl.... to whoever invented twitter, a big thank you!

anyway, we have finally beaten korea after 20 something years... and we are the second best in asia... good enough for me. very proud of the boys!

salamat gilas! with a few tweaks in the current line-up, we can get a win or two next year in spain. let's show the world that while height is might... "puso" can win games.

royal krua thai. vienna kaffeehaus. white gold house. the loft. the penthouse. formo. politics cafe bar. elite bar. j avenue superclub. club alchology. phat po. cebu's original boneless lechon belly. bo's cafe. casa verde. mooon cafe. joker's arm. cable car. distillery.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i never leave cebu without gaining an inch or two around the waist. the food? or maybe the all-nighter parties? hehe. it's a love and hate relationship.

joey's life sentence weekend was a blast. as expected....

until the next wedding.

uaap 2014: ateneo vs up

the battle of katipunan was won by the better team. ravena, obviously, was still not a 100% percent but he's getting into the groove slowly.

2 - 4. let's end the first one with another win against the tigers this wed.

--------------------------------------------------------------

is winter coming? not yet....

sunday afternoon was well spent at home infront of the tv. one big fight!

caffeine fix

some suggestions where to find ur caffeine fix that's not starbucks, cbtl, ucc, or figaro.

1) bo's coffee, glorietta
g/f alfresco area glorietta 5, makati city

- a success story on how a local coffee brand can survive despite the invasion of global heavyweights starbucks and cbtl.

2) blenz, megamall
2/F sm megamall atrium

- overrated but still good. one of the better coffee places in megamall.

3) the room upstairs
2/F lri business plaza, 210 n. garcia st., bel air, makati city

- if you want some peace and quiet, this is where i'd go.

3) commune
liberty plaza, 102 hv dela costa st., salcedo village, makati

- i love the artsy-fartsy vibe. they also serve alcohol which is a definite plus.

4) kuppa
commercenter, 4th ave., cor 31st st., bgc

- excellent coffee and the homey feel makes this place a winner. the pizza is pretty good too.

5) epic cafe
102 east capitol drive, kapitolyo, pasig

- visited this place last weekend. i enjoyed the coffee and most specially the ambiance. will definitely come back. the cakes were pretty good too.

6) caffe bene
eastwood city walk2

- i'm fond of this cafe becoz of the ski-lodge vibe. it is also usually not crowded since there's a starbucks infront and it's beside cbtl.

7) black canyon
tuscany estates, mckinley parkway

- it's good to know that i have other options in mck when i need to stay awake.

8) highlands
g/f pioneer center, pioneer st. corner united st., pasig

- vietnamese coffee is one of the best in the world! i like tru nguyen better highlands though. i wonder if they will open a franchise sometime in the near future.

9) m cafe
1/f greenbelt 4

- sunday brunch is the best time to go here. love spending sunday morning's here.

10) enderun cafe
1100 campus place, mck hill taguig city

- the closest coffee place from where i work now. i also get a decent cafe americano for only 60 bucks! the place can get noisy/crowded though specially during the afternoon.

"coffee smells like freshly-brewed heaven."

san antonio village food trip part 2

http://laterplease.blogspot.com/2010/11/san-antonio-village-food-trip.html

this post is related to the link above. additional suggestions when you're in the area

1) sophie's mom
santol st., cor. aranga st., makati
the cupcakes are delicious and always a hit with my officemates

2) dek a
5955 fermina st., cor enriquez st., poblacion, makati
this resto serves authentic thai dishes at reasonable prices!

3) hong kong roast food express
7467-c bagtikan st., san antonio village
i'd say it is one of makati's best kept secret. almost everything in the menu is worth a try. they opened another branch along jupiter sometime last year but i think it has already closed down.

we've moved out of the area sept last year. the food is what i miss most. someone told me there's a good tonkatsu place at palm tower. i should visit soon.

uaap 2014: six-y time over?

we are now down 1 - 4. damn you mammie. halimaw ka. 23 points, 20 rebounds ba?! unstoppable.

looks like winter is coming!

during the 2002 championship season, we were 9 - 5 during the elims. so don't lose faith yet. another gec chia will rise to save our asses.

ONE BIG FIGHT! ANIM-O ATENEO!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

twitter is one of the best inventions ever. haha. thanks for the live updates. i'm still thinking of getting a cherry mobile tv phone though. what do you think?

pre-cinemalaya 2013 viewings

since cinemalaya is just two weeks away, i did my share of catching up with some past cinemalaya entries. despite my toxic sched, i managed to watch three - mayohan, pisay, and paano ko sasabihin. all were quite good. i recommend them in the order i have listed down.

also i finally got the chance to catch up on brillante mendoza's latest two films - the captive and thy womb. i consider thy womb as one of his best, while the captive, in my opinion, could be his worst. i was also able to squeeze in masahista, one of his earlier films, which i think is just mediocre. but i know that it won awards and was very much acclaimed internationally.

i almost forgot that i did get to watch two "maindie" films - rigodon and menor de edad. rigodon is a must-watch in my books, while menor de edad is a somewhat a waste of time. good thing meg imperial is quite a hottie. hehe.

hope to see ou guys this august at ccp! support local films!

uaap 2014: ateneo vs adamson

first game this season where we finally won the 3rd quarter!

tiongson, buenafe, and erram came out big to give us our first win. good job guys!

i'm thinking that it will take 2 to 3 more games for kiefer to get into the groove. so we need the veterans to really step up.

let's take things a game at a time.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

my fb status update this afternoon.

"are the eagles suffering from lack of six drive? hehe. maybe kiefer is the cure. we'll find out later at 4pm. one big fight!"

Saturday, July 6, 2013

uaap 2014: eagles vs archers

it was my first time at the moa arena. i was actually impressed. finally, we have a world class stadium.

anyway, i know that we are down 0-3. but i don't think we should panic yet. we could have won the last two games.... we just ran out of energy.

looking forward to the adamson game next sunday... with one week rest, maybe kiefer will get to play. with tiongson, kiefer, newsome on the floor and buenafe providing firepower from the bench, getting into the final four is do-able.

kief the faith guys!

Sunday, June 30, 2013

uaap 2014: admu vs nu

we got our asses kicked!

i didn't expect ateneo to win without a 100% healthy kiefer, but i didn't expect to get that much of a beating from nu.

it only shows that our offense relies too much on the phenom... we should always have a plan b.

as the saying goes... don't put all of the eggs in one basket.

but don't worry guys. it's only the first game. we have the rest of the 1st round to make all of the much-needed adjustments.

obf!

short-film inspired by murakami

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4i0xXxOT7-Q

this is an introduction to the movie based on murakami's hardboiled egg and the end of the world.

haunting.

thanks erika for sharing the link.

confed cup 2013: spain vs italy

the rematch of the world cup 2010 finalists was a classic. i didn't get to see the first 60 minutes of the match but based on what i've read, italy had more clear-cut chances. spain finally got their rhythm going in the final minutes and in the extra time... but it was not enough.... the match ended with 0 all and had to be decided via the dreaded penalty-shootout.

7 - 6.

i guess spain is destined to win this one. the golden generation.

can't wait for the much-anticipated brazil-spain finals on monday. most probably a preview of the 2014 wc finals match. so you guys better not miss it.

----------------------------------------------------------------

waking up at 430am today was worth it!

ufl 2013

the only advantage of working at science hub is that i get to watch ufl games now and then.

this season, these games are the ones that i remember.

global vs meralco
global vs stallion
global vs airforce
kaya vs loyola
kaya vs gau
global vs psg
global vs meralco
stallion vs gau

i guess it's pretty obvious that i'm rooting for global fc. haha. too bad they fell off short this season. stallion fc is now the team to beat with two straight titles - the league and the cup.

btw, the azkals cafe is already open! finally, a football themed cafe/bar in the metro. it's about time!

Friday, June 21, 2013

spurs vs heat

my wallet is thinner and my heart bleends for tim duncan.

i didn't get to watch the games on tv except for game 3 and game 7. but i think everyone will agree that it is the best finals series in years. and we have to thank the oldies for giving heat one hell of a time.

to the 20 something lebron lover in blue shirt at stackers piazza this morning, fuck you! :) peace.

rico blanco solo concert

"the basic idea is to put together two things that i passionately love," rico blanco explained in last year's interview with yahoo.

the result is the cold, soulless sounds of machines and the fun fiestas in his new music.

and basically this is what the rico blanco solo concert last june 12 is about. a bold, fresh, and you can say somewhat crazy concept that he gave life to and exposed the audience to how concerts should be.

rico blanco set a new standard last independence day. kudos. wala akong masabi.

there are rumors that there will be a repeat. you should watch out for it.

5 things to do in vietnam!

what a weekend! a quick trip to vietnam. we just spent two full days so it was definitely "bitin". i will definitely come back!

things to do!

1) walk around the vibrant city - visit the war crime museum, reunification palace, notre dame basilica, central post office, ho chi minh city hall, saigon opera house, dong khoi st., etc.
2)try out the food - esp the street food.
3) hang-out in a coffee shop - vietnam is known for good coffee. you will see trung nguyen and highland coffee shops all over the city. i also liked l'usine. google it!
4) buy pasalubong such as dried langka/fruits at cho ben thanh market
5) shop for a northface backpack and onitsuka sneakers. haha.

Ako Ang Botanteng Pilipino
By: Ariel

Napapakanta tuloy ako ng “Mother, father, brother, sister, how do you brush your teeth?”

abc tourney 2013

i haven't played badminton in ages. my guesss... maybe two year now. it's harder to take on the sport now primarily because most badminton courts are being converted to condominiums which actually makes perfect business sense. also, it doesn't help that running and tri are the "in" thing nowadays. anyway, i needed a bit of an exercise so i signed up for the annual company tourney. my partner also haven't played since high school so as expected we didn't play well. haha. we ended up with 2 - 2 though which what i call "pwede na". at least i had some sort of an exercise and i did sweat a lot because of physical exertion and not because of the freakin summer heat.

i hope badminton will have its second wind soon. it's one of the sports that pinoys should take seriously since it's the perfect indoor sport for the rainy season. our rain season lasts usually half a year!

for now... i'll store my badminton stuff in our apartment bodega. until next year?! haha.

kaya vs gau

i only got to watch the first 30 minutes of football action with chiefy scoring a superb strike. i've heard it was a goalfest ending with 3 - 3. it seems that the ufl never runs out of drama. it is turning out to be one of the most promising football leagues in asia.

where to drink in makati?

since moving out of makati 8 months ago, i haven't really been up-to-date with the bar scene. but i think the list below is enough to keep you buzzed the entire summer.

1) bar m (114 valero st.)
a hidden gem with a very good scotch/whiskey selection. if ur looking for a nice and quiet place to talk over drinks, this is up there in my list.

2) blind big (227 salcedo st., legaspi village)
a speak-easy bar where you can bring your guests who are particular with their drinks/cocktails. quite pricey but worth a visit.

3) bond urban pub (catleya condominium building, 235 salcedo st., legaspi village)
it's just walking distance from blind pig. this used to be "tabu". every tuesday is model's night. nuff said. hehe.

4) dilingers (gbelt 3)
one of those rare places where i'm be comfortable drinking alone. check this out!

5) prohibition (gbelt 3)
after drinking a bottle or two at dilingers, i usually check out prohibition which is just next door. this place reminds me of cuisine. good old times. the veranda is also very-skye like. it's like visiting two bars in one place.

5) bugsys
good food and reasonably priced beer/drinks. our default tambayan. you cant go wrong with the buffalo tenders and the cheese burger roll.

6) bowler
ambiance is a hit. im not really sure about the food. it doesn't matter... i usually just drink here and i have no complaints.

guys! keep it cool this summer. drink lots of liquid! haha. cheers!

donaire vs rigondeaux

bad year so far for filipinos in boxing. a week ago, viloria lost two titles via split decision. and today, donaire was out-boxed by rigondeaux. i didn't get to watch the entire match, only the last four rounds. but based on what i saw, i think the better fighter won the match.

o well.... i guess pacman has to step it up this september. we need a win badly.

loyola sparks vs global fc

my second ufl game was quite fascinating. 1 - 1 draw between the top 2 best teams in ufl. it was a full-house at the emperador stadium... football has really come a long way. looks like this will be one of the most exciting ufl seasons. good times!

franco - the solo concert

here's the list of songs played last night. i might have missed a song or two. but im pretty sure at least 18 songs were played. sulit! the last time i saw franco played a long set was maybe 2010 or 2011 at eastwood. medyo matagal na nga.

Moonset
Lover's Fire
Seasons
To Survive
Beautiful Diversion
Muse
Last Waltz
For My Dearly Departed
Renewal
Better Days
Across the Milyway
Uprising
A Mass for the End of Time
Memory Kill
Next Train Out
The Gathering
Castaway
Song for the Suspect

most people, including me, thought that the superband's breakup last year was the end of franco. im glad we're wrong. this sophomore album is a testament of more good things to come.

positivism is important. good vibes.

the long weekend

7 things that made my loooooong weekend productive!

1) visita iglesia with my family on holy thursday (parking, as expected, was such a pain. thinking of doing this every good friday instead)
2) station of the cross at bgc
3) finished season 7 of how i met your mother (i can sense that the end is near)
4) got to watch 2 films on my must-watch list - moonrise kingdom and searching for sugarman (i was not that impressed with both. they were quality films though)
5) concluded the 6th bej fifa cup (this 3rd championship finish is the sweetest)
6) bestman duties - suit fitting, etc. (four more weeks before my bro's big day)
7) 4 nights of 8-hour sleep (this only happens once a year)
8) finished a graphic novel - box office poison (mindblown :) )
9) finally got the chance to visit ihop (the 20 mins wait was not worth it though!)

hope you guys also had a blast last weekend!

walkway 2013

if you’re just in town to spend the holy week, i suggest to try spending some quiet time doing the station of the cross at walkway bgc by church simplified.

www.churchsimplified.com/

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
a few years back, maybe three or four years ago, the only places open at bgc during holy thursday and good friday were starbucks and texas roadhouse. it is frustrating to see that things are different now. all restos/cafes are freaking open now.i miss  the quiet time and solemnity.

6th bej ps3 fifa cup

after winning the 1st bej ps3 fifa cup, chelsea fc became dormant for the next three seasons and was only good enough as the second best last season (5th bej cup). at the start of the elimination round of the recent 6th bej cup, things looked really bad for chelsea. they almost got elimated and was actually lucky to end up 4th place with nail-biting wins against aston villa and man u. but in the semis, chelsea gained confidence by winning big with the 5 - 1 trashing of barcelona fc at the barnabou stadium, which earned them the finals berth. the drama didn't end there. in the finals against man u, the blues produced a last minute goal to tie the game 1 - 1 and sealed the deal with torres' perfect strike in extra time.

1st - chelsea fc
2nd - bayern fc
3rd - real madrid
4th - man city
5th - man city
6th - chelsea fc

this is chelsea's second championship finish and my third one (the other one was with bayern fc). i can say that this is the sweetest win ever.

torres... i wish you could play like ur video game counterpart in real life.

looking forward to the 3rd title soon!

mnl boutique hotel

if you're planning to spend the holy week in the city, why not try out "mnl boutique hotel". i chance upon this place when i attended some social media gathering.

http://www.mnlboutiquehostel.com/

accommodation starts at 500 a night. not bad huh? highly recommended for this week's staycation.

finally... i now have a hideout just in case i want to run away from someone. haha.

off to maldives

azkals 1 turkmenistan 0

i wanted to watch the game live at rms but my schedule was just crazy. work always get in the way of football. haha. anyway, watching it on tv at pinchos, a tiny bar near my office, was good enough.

hmmm. i don't really have much to say but the team is just getting better and better. with this win, the azkals has further validated that we are a developing football power in the region and the only place to go is up the fifa rankings! yeah!

good job guys. im tempted to fly to maldives next year.... will start checking out ticket prices.

azkals vs cambodia

we've assembled the best line-up ever when we played against cambodia. check out this first eleven.

muller
carli de mura
juani guirado
rob gier
dennis cagara
stephan shrock
mulders
jerry lucena
angel guirado
patino
phil younghusband

and in the bench, we have chieffy, james younghusband, oj porteria, patrick reichelt, among others.

so i was not really that surprised when we trashed cambodia 8 - 0 despite all the drama - power outage, the heavy downpour, etc.

with this historic win (last time we scored more than 7 goals was in 1917), i'm confident that we are heading to maldives. watch out turkmenistan! 3rd time is a charm.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

checkout my facebook page for the game pics.

visita iglesia 2013

my parents are in town for the holy week. they couldn't stand the power situation in mindanao. imagine 4 - 6 hours a day of black outs???!!! it's earth day everyday there... reminds me of the 90s.  dark times... literally.

anyway, it was my parent's first time to do visita iglesia here. they were actually surprised that the tradition is very much alive in the metro. we heard mass at gbelt chapel at 5pm before hitting road for my holy thursday habit.

1) greenbelt parish, greenbelt
2) st. andrews parish, bel air
3) national shrine of the sacred heart, kamagong
4) st. john bosco parish, arnaiz avenue
5) sanctuario de san antonio, forbes
6) blessed john paul II, eastwood
7) padre pio, c5

parking situation was pretty bad. i'm actually thinking of making it a good friday habit instead starting next year.

beer no more

i'm been trying to cut down on beer lately... my beer belly expansion is quite alarming. haha. the next best option is whiskey.

so far my favs for single malt are

glen elgin 12 yr old single malt scotch
suntori hibiki 12 yr old
glenfiddich 12 yr old

for blended, ive been a fan of double black and chivas ever since.

i will start a whiskey log to track all of the whisky i've tasted in this blog. maybe my beer belly will stop growing but my liver will start dying. lol.  cheers!

emperador stadium

i hate working at the mckinley area due to the parking situation. the only consolation is that emperador stadium is just two blocks away. im quite impressed with the field. looks like football is here to stay.

hmmm. the 7 - 2 trashing of airforce by the stallions was agonizing to watch. what happened to the previous champs? i guess the football landscape in the philippines has changed with the influx of quality players from all over the world. it's a challenge for the locals to keep up with them. but dont be wary...  i know we will... in due time. keep the faith guys!

volleyball is alive

i was only able to watch a couple of games this season on tv. one game in the second round, and the other was the game 1 finals against dlsu. ateneo almost had it... but i guess that the better and more experienced team handled the pressure better.

this year is a historic moment for uaap volleyball, and volleyball in general... imagine... 18-19K record crowd at MOA arena. who could have thought that these ladies could fill them. definitely looking forward to next year.

i wonder who will be the next gretchen ho. the chris tiu of volleyball. hehe.

azkals vs myanmar

i was able to watch the last 20 minutes only. but i think i can say for sure that the team was a bit rusty. so much still needs to be done to get the team fired up for the upcoming tourney.

superb goal by oj porteria though - the youngest player on the pitch. this kid has a lot of potential.

looking forward to a great year of filipino football!

thanks friday's eastwood for showing the match! other sports bars should follow. support local football!

teeth run 2012

joined the teeth run this morning.  i think i clocked in around 36 minutes for the 5k run. not bad i guess for someone who was still reeking of alcohol and with only an hour of shuteye.

the fun run route was in the parañaque c5 road ext. near multinational ave. turning to sm city-sucat and back to c5 ext road.

i'm contemplating if i should start running again. i really need to get back in shape. and i don't mean round. hehe.

5th bej ps3 fifa cup

grrrr. i placed 1st runner-up with a 4 - 3 lost to man city in the finals. o well, at least i can say that chelsea is back. d. ba is my new first option upfront. he's not drogba but he is a beast in front of the goal.

congrats to my bro jp for the back-to-back championship title c/o man city. disappointing season for the perennial group stage top finishers real madrid and ac milan. what happened brian!? ran out of luck? hehe.

the next tourney will definitely be interesting. i hope to break my slump.

enjoy the rest of sunday guys!

4th bej ps3 fifa cup

interestingly, i placed 4th again! i guess i've loss my mojo! haha.

this time, i fielded bayern fc and psv. bayern made it to #4 and psv ended up last place. i had problems with my defense throughout they tourney... i find it weird coz defense is usually my forte.

again, my bro brian dominated the tourney... with ac milan and real madrid securing the top two spots. my bayern loss to ac milan in the semis becoz of carelessness. stupid me.
but anyway... real madrid eventually loss to man city in the semis, and ac milan was unlucky against this rising team in the finals. who could have known that my bro jp would capture the crown with man city. actually the first time for an under-performing team to beat the top-seeded team. the ball is round indeed.

we might be able to squeeze in another tourney before the vacation ends. sulitin na ang pagka-geek!
